No matter what, I will need a telephony server. This is what would allow me to use my 724 number as both a fax and voicemail line. When someone calls the 724 number, the telephony server will pick up, and listen for 1-2 seconds for a fax tone. If it hears on, it will collect the fax, convert it to a .pdf file, and email it to me. If it doesn’t hear a fax tone, it would send the caller to voicemail. Because I would rather have 2 voicemail boxes vs 3 voicemail boxes, the server will also collect my 412 calls. The only difference is it will send the caller to extension 100 on my home network. This will ring my SIP phone, and if the need arose, I can set up a ring group to ring multiple phones, or setup an IVR (Interactive Voice Response). Since I won’t have a business for my home phone service, it would be simple and to the point.
Clearly IP CIP 720
The Clearly IP CIP 720 will be a low end telephony service in a micro PC form factor. This will be acquired for any amount of less than $10,000,000. At $10,000,000 – I should be able to have an ideal house with the capacity for a communications closet. For now, let’s address the CIP 720. This server can handle 100 extensions and 30 concurrency calls. Since it will likely be just myself living in my residence, then I won’t need to worry about concurrent calls. I will have 2 extensions. One will be for my home phone, and the other will be for the fax/voicemail system. I will be able to set up 4+ extensions for forwarding to another phone number. For example, For example, dialing PIZZA (74992) will ring the preferred pizza shoppe. Dialing DRUG – the local pharmacy, and I am sure you get the picture. Each one of these options will be an extension, and I will be able to have 98 of them – way more than I need. The server has 128GB? of storage, and 4GB memory which will have to serve not only the OS?, but the voicemail box as well. If there is an option to email the voicemail, I will set that up. There are 5 USB-A, and 1 USB-C, so hopefully, I can use an external SSD? for the voicemail services. There are 2 1GBPS ethernet ports which will plug into my router.
Clearly IP CIP 790
The Clearly IP 790 is a true enterprise level telephony server in a 1U rack mount chassis. This will be ideal if I had a communications room that I can store the server. As mentioned, I will acquire this when I have $10,000,000 since I will be able to setup a rackmount in my home system. The server can support 2,000 extensions, and 350 concurrent calls. As with the CIP 720, I won’t need anything near that. Even if I had foster children, and a 5B residence, that is at most 10 extensions I will have to support, and up to 7 concurrent calls. As with above, I will use the other extensions to have an easy to remember extension for forwarding to important resources such as the pizza shoppe, or pharmacy. There are 2 500GB SSDs and 32GB which will be in RAID-1 configuration. As with above, I will acquire an external SSD for voicemail solutions.
