I can not port my number to the pager service. This is just not possible. Instead, I will receive a new telephone number exclusively for the pager service. To make things work, I will setup call forwarding for my 413 number to forward to the pager number. The caller will hear the voicemail system, and be none the wiser in regards that this is a forwarded number, and that this is also a pager number. Those that needs to know will be informed that this is a pager number, and will be able to send the page number rather than leaving a voicemail. However – with pagers being a niche service, most people probably don’t know or remember how to send a number instead of a voicemail. My pager’s voicemail announcement will be the same as my cellular and SIP lines, so no one will know the difference.
