There will be 2 telephone numbers associated with this provider. Both of these numbers will hold significance and importance for the role they provide for. I already have the hardware for the VOIP provider, and considering activating the service again, even though I don’t have my ideal phone setup. If that was to change, it will be easy enough to port numbers to this carrier.
The first number is my 412 number. This is my current cell phone line, and it will be changed to function as a VOIP line. Calls to this number will eventually ring the DECT phones that will be in my residence. Outgoing calls will show the 412 number as the calling number. If there was something that I would need to contact in regards to my residence, I will use the 412 number. For example, a pizza delivery will use my 412 number rather than using my cellular phone.
The second will plug into the ATA. This will run a telephone line from the printer to the ATA, and then the ATA will plug into an electrical outlet. This particular ATA will use a DECT connection rather than an RJ45 connection. The 724 number will be exclusively used for faxes. All incoming calls will be handled by the Fax line, and those looking for a voice connection will be interrupted by the noise a fax machine makes when anticipating another fax machine to call it. Outgoing faxes will be sent, and I will always double check a telephone number before sending the fax. This is just good manners as I am sure you wouldn’t want to answer a telephone, and listen to the squeeches that fax machines make.
