ATA

I have an HP printer which has a telephone port for faxing abilities. Currently, that telephone line is not being used. However, if this ideal phone setup would be all I wish to do, then I would have a dedicated fax number through a sub-account of C carrier. The ATA will be an Grandstream HandyTone HT801+. This ATA will support 1 SIP provider, and therefore just one SIP line. This is fine as I do not need more than 1 fax line, and the WP825 will support for voice communications. However, where I could receive faxes through this ATA, for cost savings, incoming faxes will be handled by C.

Incoming faxes will be collected by C, converted into a .pdf file, and sent to my email address. I will obviously get a notice that I have email. I will open the .pdf file, and view the contents. If the fax warrants printing it out, then I can do so. If I need to keep the fax, but do not need a physical copy of the file, then I would store the file in a storage resource. If the fax proves to be a junk fax, or something that doesn’t warrant keeping, then I will delete the email, and fax as well.

C does not offer full eFax capabilities. They only offer incoming eFax services. For outgoing faxes, this is where I will use the printer, and ATA. I will print the documents that will need to be faxed. I will place the documents in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), and enter the fax number into the printer. The printer will check for a dial tone with the ATA, and send the fax. I will have to pay for outgoing minutes, and since the number of times I will need to send a fax is very rare, then it will make sense to pay per minute, and just have a pool of funds that would deduct from the fax. I am likely able to send 2 pages per minute for faxing assuming at 14.4kbps which is average for faxing.
